Thousands of webmasters all over the world use ICRA labels to give information about the content published on their websites. The system uses 39 machine-readable descriptors to classify site content, indicating whether a specific site includes potentially unsuitable content such as nudity and violence. The descriptors also warn whether the site contains potentially harmful activities such as gambling or alcohol use. confoki allows parents and other responsible adults to define which content they view as harmful to children and indicate what is acceptable to them. Presets from trusted organisations are available for users who don’t have time to work through the 39 different descriptors. Numerous presets are already available and more are being added all the time. Once your have configured the confoki browser plug-in you will only be able to view sites that have been assigned an ICRA label and comply with your settings. There is also a special confoki search engine that enables you to find approved sites quickly and easily. Once the browser extension has been activated, the search field is changed and you and your children can start searching for content. The list of search results is being updated constantly and will eventually cover tens of thousands of websites. The combination of browser extension and search machine creates a safe environment for your children – the only content available will reflect your specific settings and personal values. |
